Magic lay thick in the air. It lingered within the glimmering shadows that seemed to be filled with the night sky. It surrounded the base of the snowy mountain, hiding the small obsidian kingdom that lay within. The once perverse kingdom stood dormant. Screams of tortured souls and humans could not be heard. The ever going parties had stopped. One step within the palace would show fae and human alive frozen in space. Their faces frozen in time, still lit up with their devious joy as they had once been consumed in enacting their whims amongst the human slaves that were kept within. However, this abnormality had been caused due to one… small woman. The reigning ruler over the lands had abruptly gone missing. The magic that poured from her soul had disappeared, leaving the kingdom in a state of nothingness. Frozen in time until she returned, or a new ruler with equal or greater power laid claim to her home. Where exactly was the missing princess?... If one traveled further into the mountain enough, they would stumble upon a lone pocket of sunshine and spring air. Another abnormality, something that didn’t belong in the frigid air, another sign of instability in the magic that claimed these lands. The small area was lush with greens and hyper wildlife and had settled and made their home here. It had been many months since the princess had ventured into this pocket of sunshine, and she had never stepped foot out of it. Amongst the vibrant greens, a small creek made its home. The sound of trickling fresh water added to the ambiance, making the area that much more inviting to the senses. Along this creek, a silver statute lay, one with features oddly similar to that of the princess. The body of the statue laid half in the creek, one hand submerged within the water, and the other grasping furiously at the other, as if trying to pull herself free from an invisible grasp. A look of fear and confusion was etched into the statue's face. The vivid details in the statue were uncanny. It captured every detail perfectly, every marking that laid upon her body, every birthmark. It was as if the princess had become trapped, frozen in time within the summer. Perhaps she had… As the months continued to pass, the princess’s frozen figure laid there. Stuck within the unknown, until finally something changed. The pocket of summertime slowly began to frost over. It wasn’t something that had happened quickly. It was as if the winter had seeped in slowly, first a single snow flake, and then more, the mountain and its magic seemingly had discovered the taboo that had made its home on its land, and was reigning its control back. Little by little, the silver that coated the statue started to melt away, but not off of the princess. No, the metal seemed alive, and it forced itself within the princess. Forcing every molecule of its being into her pours, her skin, every hole in her body until it disappeared and the princess instantly jolted back to life, pulling her hand out of the now frozen creek as if months had not passed by. No words escaped her mouth, only a blood curdling scream that echoed within the mountain pass, for all to hear. A scream so sharp that it startled the magic back alive within the kingdom. All that had been still for these months, moved again, resuming their activities as if nothing happened, but they could all hear the scream that came from Halazia, even though she was miles away. The scream did not waiver. Not as her body writhed in pain, her eyes rolling back so only the whites showed. Her petite body convulsed on the ground as something wriggled beneath her flesh, moving across every inch of her body. It looked like a parasite as it moved. The pain from the foreign entity seared through every vein, every cell in her being. It did not belong inside of her. ’No, no. It needed to get out.’ It would not. Not even as Halazia’s nails raked against her flesh, tearing the skin open for her blood to leak. The mass continued to wriggle and move, until it launched itself within Halazia’s mind. The silver liquid that had once coated the princess, wrapped around her mind, invading her body with its presence. It spoke in a million voices. ’Mine… Mine… Mine….’ The voices spoke within her mind. Perfect Vessel…. Slowly Halazia’s screams ended, until she laid there trembling, dark black tears streaming down her face in agony as her hands grasped at her head, nails digging so deeply into her scalp that she opened wounds, as if that would draw the silver out of her mind. “G-Get… out…” she heaved, her words slipped out through heavied, pained breaths. ’Does she speak to us… us… us?’ ’You belong to us now, girl… girl.. girl…’ Each word they spoke drove Halazia mad. Each voice was as old as time, whispering secrets of something that she did not know, knowledge that she knew that she should not have had. “Please…” She rasped, her voice had been turned raw from the scream she had let out, every syllable that left her lips pained her, but it was nothing compared to the pain within her head and her eyes. “What are you… what do you want…” She groaned as her body rolled over, and she curled into a fetal position within the snow. ’We want everything silly fae… fae… fae…’ The words were true, she could feel how they devoured her very being, and laid claim to her. ’We are the quicksilver, and you will wield us.’ Denial was futile. The quicksilver had laid claim to the princesses body, a living metal that had been around since the beginning of time, had come out of hiding and staked its claim on the world. Her body trembled in pain as she uncurled herself. Each word the quicksilver spoke, brought promises of insanity into her mind. Slowly, did the princess finally open her eyes. The once purple irises swirled with the living silver abnormally, making its presence known. Halazia knew that there was no denying that it was wanted, that would only break her mind quicker. She would obey, for now, until she could find some way to pull the damned thing out of her body, but first she would need to return to her long awaited mountain to do such a thing…
